United States & Mexico, U.S. Section, Along the US / Mexico Border in the US (states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California) and the Republic of Mexico (states of Tamaulipas, Nueveo Leon, Coahuilla, Chihuahua, Sonora, and Baja California)

S&B Infrastructure, Ltd. (SBI) has been the prime provider of IDIQ A-E services for the USIBWC since October 1, 2004.  General services include engineering planning, feasibility and cost benefit studies, construction phase services and construction management, inspection of existing facilities; design services for rehabilitation, renovation, repair, and new construction for civil works associated with surface and subsurface water, flood control (such as channels, levees, dams, and reservoir embankments);  environmental services; permitting support; technical support for environmental documentation in support of NEPA; geotechnical services; surveying and aerial mapping; engineering, hydraulic and hydrologic studies; design and bidding document preparation; and construction assistance services.

 

Representative projects include:

 

  • Technical Evaluation, Analysis and Recommendations To Rehabilitate Fort Hancock - El Porvenir International Bridge, Fort Hancock. Texas - El Porvenir, ChihuahuaSBI provided a team of experts in bridge design, analysis, inspection, and rehabilitation to review previous inspection reports and existing bridge plans.

  • Design of Rehabilitation Improvements of the Hidalgo Protective Levee System – SBI performed preliminary engineering and final design / construction drawings for approximately five miles of existing levees within the vicinity of the City of Hidalgo, in Hidalgo County, Texas. SBI also prepared plans, specifications, and estimates for construction drawings

  • Technical Analysis & Evaluation of Amistad Dam & Falcon Dam Power Plants –  Technical analysis and evaluation of two dams and power plants. In general, SBI performed a technical evaluation and analysis (for the U.S.-side only).

  • Lower Rio Grande Flood Control Project (LRGFCP), HEC-RAS Model Validation & FLOW-2D Simulation – Work includes update and verification of an existing HEC-RAS model by incorporation of additional cross-sections at more frequent intervals.  SBI is also providing development and calibration of a new FLO-2D model for the Project Penitas, Texas, to River Mile 28 below Brownsville.
