Pipeline

 

S&BI Pipeline can provide comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction management services, as well as direct execution of a full range of budgetary, technical, and regulatory activities. Our pipeline projects are planned, designed, and executed on a foundation of experience, proficiency and innovation. Integrated into our capabilities and connects Google™ Earth to real-time documents and drawings associated explicitly to a particular project location.

Facilities

 

As our world grows and changes, so does the need to improve our infrastructure. Whether the project is for a public agency or a private company, our design solutions minimize disruption during construction and improve the overall efficiency of the facility or site. 

 

We provide specialized design in the following areas:

  • Facilities – manufacturing plants, maintenance facilities, schools, laboratories, airport terminals and hangars, ports, container yards, water and wastewater treatment plants, pump and lift stations, water desalinization, industrial development, agriculture, petrochemical facilities, mining, solid waste facilities, and general land development.

  • Special Infrastructure – petrochemical storage and distribution; security and blast protection; fire protection; safety design; automation, instrumentation, and control upgrades; pollution prevention plans; spill containment and leak detection; cranes, foundations and structures; and material movement

Transportation

 

Mobility is often taken for granted – planning and designing the preferred alternative from one location to another requires proven technical expertise, combined with an understanding of the fiscal and environmental constraints potentially impacting our clients and the communities they serve. We strive to create practical and innovative solutions – for all transportation modes – to minimize disruptions during construction, as well as, to improve the overall flow of people, vehicles, and goods.

S&BI is committed to the protection and enhancement of the environment and provides a wide array of environmental expertise. Sample services include natural resource investigations and analysis, public health, cultural resources, and socio-economic issues; legal documentation and impact statements; wetland delineation and mitigation reports; hazardous and toxic sites investigations; containers and noise assessments.

​Federal

 

Trends such as reducing costs, consolidation, and security concerns are driving the need for innovative changes (thinking out of the box) today. We fully understand the challenges facing federal clients. Our years of experience with municipal and private clients have resulted in cost-effective, value-added solutions, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each federal agency’s mission and strategic goals.Our federal clients include the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Defense (DOD); US ARMY, US Army Reserve Command (USARC), US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and the US Army National Guard Bureau (NGB).  SBI’s diverse projects have included engineering services for the world’s largest petroleum storage and transfer facility, the DOE’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve; the USARC Logistics and accounting operation; and the installation security master-planning for the US Army. We provide project and program management, logistics, and detailed engineering services, as well as flexible contract vehicles from Federal Indefinite Quantity / Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) contracts to multiple GSA Schedules.Additionally, our substantial experience with blast design and asset management provides an unparalleled resource to federal agencies handling safety and security issues.

​Drainage - Hydraulics & Hydrology

 

S&BI’s drainage engineers have helped clients solve major drainage, flood management challenges, surface water containment, and irrigation needs. We offer extensive experience with drainage master planning, drainage design, erosion protection, flood warning systems, irrigation and dam structures, levees, pumps/gates, and canal and channel design. From small planning contracts to multi-billion dollar capital development programs, we are committed to the success of each project, regardless of its size and complexity.

​Water / Wastewater

 

Safe and ample water and wastewater treatment systems are necessary to satisfy the needs of the community, attract new business and stimulate economic growth. So, as cities continue to grow and prosper, there is a need to continuously improve, expand, upgrade, and maintain water and wastewater capabilities. SBI has consistently demonstrated an ability to provide innovative and efficient design for water and wastewater treatment facilities.  Our experience also includes wells, dams, tanks, pipelines, pumps, and lift stations.

​Construction Management

 

S&BI provides program, project, and construction management services to public and private clients. We offer planning, engineering and coordination, estimating and budgeting, program planning and implementation, controls, quality assurance and quality control, inspection and testing, scheduling, accounting services, bid and construction phase services, transfer, operation and maintenance; and training.  S&BI’s iPIMS® web-based project management system allows our clients access to their project status around the clock, from anywhere in the world.

GIS  / Mapping Services

 

S&BI has provided GIS services and design services, including data collection, mapping support and watershed modeling analysis for various projects.  S&BI has fully trained personnel experienced in complex GIS applications. Our extensive ArcIMS/ArcSDE website development and mapping experience includes property parcel development, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water lines, natural gas distribution systems, telecommunication cables and appurtenances, culverts, manholes and handholes, and alternative studies for roadways. S&BI GPS crews have been using Leica Survey Grade GPS units for over 5 years. We have developed metadata and data collection standards around Spatial Data Standards to make sure projects are within GASB 34 guidelines. Our experienced GIS staff knows that client coordination is essential when mapping an operating facility and actively communicates to ensure the facility is not impacted. Due to our fast and accurate mapping services, most of our work is from repeat clients, including Hidalgo County, SBC, Time Warner, and the Houston Airport System. S&B’s experience with cutting-edge GIS technology is our strongest asset and allows us to stand apart from our competitors. S&B is the only provider of a uniquely integrated asset management and facilities management system. Our field teams have direct access to GIS / GPS information, and our GIS staff can receive and download GPS data immediately. We have also developed a one-of-a-kind web site for information access. Once GIS information is collected and warehoused in the data repository, the web site distributes information to the people that need it. Our clients have access to data throughout the development of a project, typically within 24 hours of data collection. With our proven, unique 24-hour data turnaround, we provide a data collection system that saves time, money, and ensures secure data the client can trust. S&B has conducted GIS mapping for numerous environmental studies. Our environmental mapping services include overlaying site boundaries on aerial photographs, FEMA floodplain maps, USGS topographic quadrangles, National Wetlands Inventory maps, and soil maps. Our mapping experience includes wetland delineations, especially those projects requiring complex mitigation issues.
