Music Plays a Huge Role at Temple Beth Sholom
Our Temple Beth Sholom’s music is the heartbeat of our people. Music is also where the soul meets the sacred. Soul-stirring and participatory, thoughtful and moving, music at Temple Beth Sholom is exiting, fun and wide ranging. You are always welcome to sit back and enjoy a special music event or to get involved in
any of our many avenues to participate.
Our Cantor Anna came to Temple Beth Sholom inheriting a rich musical heritage. Lucky for us, her own enthusiasm and amazing talents as a singer, musician and composer has raised the bar for our choir, band and all musical outlets. She is forever striving to create beauty and meaning through music and those who help create it. And we cannot leave out our Rabbi Leiken (link to Rabbi’s bio), who is also a talented singer and musician. Together, they create a musical landscape for Services that involve our children and youthen older souls.
Musical Opportunities for Youth
Temple Beth Sholom offers numerous ways for Children and Teens to join in the music making. The Kids Choir and Kids band practices on Tuesdays from 5:15pm to 5:45pm and Sundays from 11:30am to 12:00pm during the last half hour of Religious School. We are rejoicing and celebrating, having fun and being together in the wonderful process of making a special music.
You and your children are invited to explore all of our music. Please contact Cantor Anna directly at annazhar@hotmail.com if you are interested in getting involved in any of our groups below.
The only requirement for joining our wonderful Children's and Adult Choir is a love of music and song! Our work not only yields a truly remarkable quality of musicianship, under the excellent guidance of Cantor Anna Zhar, but also creates bonds of friendships and community. Both choirs inspire our congregation during worship, and help in continuing our Jewish musical heritage.
Children who play an instrument, please join our new "Children's Band". Adults, we always have room, and need, more musicians in our Band!
